What are the best things to do in Windsor?

There is nothing like a visit to Windsor, a historic city steeped in the history and pageantry of the royal family. Windsor is surrounded by beautiful countryside, and a day trip from London is a great idea. You'll find a lively town in an attractive riverside setting with bars, shops and restaurants aplenty and lots of nice accommodations too.

Here are some suggestions of things to do to whilst in Windsor:

We always think you should start with a boat trip to explore Windsor from the river - at a leisurely pace. French Brothers offer trips along the Thames at Windsor from 40 minutes to two hours and have been operating charters in the town since the beginning of time! You can also hire your own motor boat for a reasonable fee and navigate your own way up and down the river.

Obviously the number one attraction for the area is Windsor Castle and no trip would be complete without a visit. You can book Windsor Castle tickets here

Visit Legoland - the number one kids attraction in the area - you can buy Legoland Windsor Tickets here (link opens in a new tab)

Visit Savill Gardens - the walk around Virginia Water lake is particularly stunning. Savill Gardens is an excellent destination if you are seeking fresh air, exercise and an ever-changing landscape to immerse yourself in nature plus a chance for the odd selfie or two...
